What is Indoor Skydiving?
The indoor skydiving experience simulates a real free fall inside a vertical wind tunnel. These modern wind tunnels provide a place to practice skydiving techniques before jumping from a plane. Since they’ve become more widely available, a whole new sport called bodyflight has been created.
The Technology of Indoor Skydiving
iFly uses powerful fans at the top of the chamber to draw up air and then push it back down the sides. These are called Return Air Towers (RATs). The air is pushed from the RATs into the bottom of the tunnel and back into the flight chamber via an inlet contractor. This reduces the space the air can travel in which it compresses and speeds it up. What you then have is a smooth column of air to fly in.
