Just a few minutes away from our community, the Schweiger Ranch is more than just a historic site. Ranch employees and volunteers regularly offer events, tours, and living history presentations to create a lively atmosphere, bringing visitors back again and again.

A Unique Local Resource

After the Schweiger Brothers began arriving from Austria in 1874, they purchased this beautiful piece of property and founded the ranch. After some ups and downs in the 20th century, Douglas County granted the ranch historic status in 2004.

Since then, the Schweiger Ranch Foundation has worked to make it a vibrant place to visit. Varied events draw the Lone Tree community together, creating unique opportunities for fun, food, and learning.

Tours and Events 

If it’s your first time at the ranch begin, with a tour. You can always call the ranch for a private guided tour at any time. However, if you just want a drop-in self-guided tour, you can do so on the third Saturday of the month from 1-5 pm.

More than just a picturesque historic spot, the ranch hosts ongoing events each season, making it appealing to visit often. Annual events include the Hometown Heroes Cook-off, the City of Lone Tree Fall Festival, and an Austrian Christmas Festival.

If you really enjoy the ranch and want to connect with it regularly, consider volunteering. You can lead tours or simply assist with events. Or, get out in the fresh air and volunteer to clean up around the barn or grounds. The choice is yours!
