Schweiger Ranch and the Cave of Confusion are Waiting For You

Would you love to take a day and step back in time? How about stepping into a museum or visiting an old mansion or historical site? Do your friends call you a history buff? Do you crave new adventure, such as conquering mazes?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then plan a visit to Schweiger Ranch and the Cave of Confusion!

Schweiger Ranch

Schweiger Ranch, founded in 1874, is still active today with the house, stable, tractor shed, and several other buildings restored to a historical condition. Come walk the land and see the tools Austrian immigrants John, Joseph, and Jacob Schweiger used to plant their crops. Walk through the buildings and see the historic chicken coop that provided food. You can even see what they called the loafing shed built to provide shade for the animals.

Schweiger Ranch offers many events throughout the year where any history buff can learn about legendary ladies like Maud Nelson, who played baseball, and Calamity Jane, who was a frontierswoman. There are walking tours, wagon tours, guided tours, and self-guided tours.

You’ll find there is room for everyone to sit and enjoy listening to the stories of plowing a field by hand or milking a cow by hand. In fact, you might even find yourself listening to a tale told by one of Calamity Jane’s relatives!

You can also check the schedule of events or join the ranch for their campfire series, hear Maria Von Trapp in July, or hear about Louisa May Alcott in August.

Cave of Confusion

For braver individuals, there is the challenge of the Cave of Confusion. Picture a twenty-foot trailer with a three-dimensional maze built inside. Only the most daring enter and only the smartest conquer the maze without getting lost.

So, plan a visit to Schweiger Ranch and step back in time. There’s tons of adventure that awaits you!
