Spend A Day At The Downtown Aquarium

Retreat at Park Meadows is conveniently located to a unique entertainment and dining complex that features a restaurant, lounge, and an aquarium. It’s known as the Downtown Aquarium, and it boasts more than one million gallons of underwater exhibits that highlight ecosystems from around the world. Things to see and do include:

In the Desert – Deserts cover approximately one-fifth of the Earth’s surface and they receive less than ten inches of rain every year. Animals that call the desert home have adapted to the dryness and extreme temperatures, and they include Western Diamond rattlesnakes, bearded dragons, and desert pupfish.

At the Beach – There are several interesting animals that inhabit areas of shallow water just off the shore. They live on rocky or sandy sea bottoms and spend most of their adult lives in crevices or buried under the sand. Animals within this exhibit include Giant Pacific octopus, wolf eels, and southern stingrays.

The Rainforest – Did you know that rainforests cover seven percent of the world? Some of the exhibits represent those that are periodically inundated by flooding, while other habitats in this area represent mangrove swamps found at the mouth of a river. Animals include stingrays, red belly piranhas, and African Cichlids.

Aquarium Restaurant – Enjoy a meal around the 50,000-gallon aquarium that provides exceptional floor-to-ceiling views from all tables. It’s filled with more than one hundred species of tropical fish and twice a day, a diver delights guests by making feedings in full view of the dining room.
